Fingerprinting looks like one service from the outside and is really several. Which one you need depends entirely on who is asking and why — a licensing board, a healthcare employer, a consulate, or an out-of-state agency each want something different, and they use overlapping language for it.
Below is every route we handle. If you're not sure which applies, the fastest path is to call and read us the requirement. Interpreting these is daily work here, and a two-minute call is considerably cheaper than being printed under the wrong ORI.

Have an ORI number from an agency we haven't listed? Bring it.
Start with who is asking. A Florida licensing board means DBPR or the Department of Health, under that board's ORI. A licensed healthcare employer means AHCA screening with the Clearinghouse photo. Childcare, foster care, and adoption mean DCF. A school district runs its own. Disability service providers go through APD. A nonprofit screening volunteers usually means VECHS. And a consulate, foreign employer, or immigration filing means the FBI Identity History Summary.
Then check the wording. "Level 2" and "fingerprint-based" both mean a fingerprint submission, not a name search — and AHCA screening is one type of Florida Level 2 screening rather than a separate thing. "State police clearance" points at the Florida route; "FBI background check" or "federal criminal record" points at the federal one. Those last two get mixed up constantly, and requesting the wrong one costs weeks.
Finally, count heads. Individuals book appointments here. Companies and organisations screening a group can request an on-site session, which usually costs less in total once you price the paid time of everyone making separate trips. If you are genuinely unsure on any of these, the phone is faster than the reading — call and read us the requirement.
Your fingerprints are processed by FDLE and the FBI regardless of who captures them. The result is the same, the authority is the same, and no provider can shorten government processing time. What a provider controls is capture quality, routing accuracy, and how quickly the submission actually leaves the building.
Those three are where nearly every avoidable delay originates. A poor capture comes back rejected. A wrong ORI routes results to an agency that never asked for them, with no way to redirect afterward. A submission that sits in a batch queue until Friday loses days for no reason. We verify the first two before capturing and eliminate the third by transmitting the same day.
